KARN MALHOTRA’S CLASSIC EDGY COLLECTION MADE A STRONG FASHION STATEMENT AT INDIA BEACH FASHION WEEK 2015

Karn Malhotra’s brand presented classic, edgy fashion that will delight women of all ages at Gionee India Beach Fashion Week 2015.

Creating the perfect cool summery look, Karn worked with cotton blends, georgette, cotton and Lycra with an anchor cluster motif print and colour blocking as the centre of attraction. Working with colours that were ideal for fun in the sun, Karn opted for green, white and pale champagne with subtle glitter of traditional beads thread work and rhinestones.

Opening the show with a hot bikini clasped with a jewelled belt, the show moved smoothly to shaded champagne/white chiffon covers and dresses layered seductively to create a feminine image. Asymmetric layering and interesting cut-outs bordered with glitter was the mainstay of the collection.
Detailing was intense with belts, shoulder patches and collars embellished with gold, metal chains and studs along with hints of brown faux leather making a strong fashion statement.

Catering to a wide spectrum of fashion followers, Karn’s line moved from evening lounge wear, to casual semiformal day wear and then added gowns, maxis, tunics, separates and swimsuits. Evoking a hint of the retro influence there were high waistlines and sleeve patterns all created in a contemporary mode.

The white and jade line with anchor print was ideal for the cruise wear look, with monokini, halter dresses, corset tops, shorts, front ruffled shirt tail minis and palazzos with off-shoulder poncho. The final line of Grecian gowns in black and white with subdued glitter was a great end to the show.

For women who long for a mix of the past and present when they move around the globe, Karn Malhotra offered many glamorous choices.

THREE TALENTED FASHION BRANDS DAZZLED ON THE CATWALK AT THE TALENTHOUSE INDIA SHOW DURING INDIA BEACH FASHION WEEK 2015

Three winners of the Gionee India Beach Fashion Week and Talenthouse India contest held through “Fashion Recruits” a joint initiative between Gionee India Beach Fashion Week and Talenthouse India dazzled the audience with their glamorous collections.

The Talenthouse India show aimed at encouraging budding designers was a visual treat when the three brands selected from 370 entries across India presented their trendsetting creations.

ANITA SIHAG AND NITIN GUPTA – NITYAA DESIGNS
Resort wear in shades of blue, grey and white with fun prints that ranged from florals to geometrics made a stylish travel wardrobe. Layered asymmetric hemline dresses, sheer/opaque maxis, belted frocks, sexy gowns slashed to the hips and bell sleeved shift dresses were a variety of options for the jet setting woman. Clever print placement added to the style quotient of the collection.

Working around a colour theme of white and blue/purple with a mosaic like intricate print and luxurious white lace the collection was superbly crafted.

Eye catchers were the micro side pleated mini, the printed sheath with flock embroidery and a striking blue shift with centre printed panel. The final line of feminine gowns - a stunning backless version, a white lace number over blue lining and a lace and plain panelled white gown were great formal wear options that made the collection ideal for women who want to bring their femininity to the forefront.

CHIRAG NAINANI
Playing with striking indigo in daba print technique, ideal for holiday wear, the cool western wear printed line offered swinging coats, slim skirts, gilets, minis; asymmetric shirt dresses, floppy sacks, tunics over slim trousers and deconstructed shifts.

Patched pockets, contrast white collars and tonal prints were the highlight of the collection. With indigo as the main colour story with a mélange of prints that ranged from checks, pinstripes, abstract, floral to smudges, Chirag created a line of totally wearable creations that could move from day to evening wear.

The very practical shirt waister, long beach covers, shirt tail printed maxi, peplum top and rouched shorts, side trail tunic, waistcoat over slim skirt, pin striped indigo bias cut asymmetric ensemble and the flared midi long sleeve dress will delight the fashion followers.

AKSHAY KALMADI AND NEHA BHOGAL – PAPER DOLL COMPANY
For their debut collection, the designing duo used muted colours and fluid silhouettes for the summer line. Inspired by the blues and greens of the ocean, the ensembles were a sun worshipper’s delight. Intricate textured lace with embroidery, worked perfectly for beach tunics.

Soft sheer white swimwear covers were splashed with pastel blue hues. Sexy bikinis were revealed under long transparent capes, while layers of sensuous fabrics were turned into mini ponchos.

Tassels and fringes played a major role in the collection for bikinis, tops, wrap skirts, and dresses. The ultra glam swimwear was restricted to just the tiniest of bikinis in shades of white, sea green, shocking pink or black. Lace insets were periodically used for beach covers; while the pleated shaded pink georgette pants and lace top was ideal for after dark glamour. The finale was restricted to a rather risqué net flared long skirt in pale pink with a cropped loose white shimmering top.

DOLLY SIDHWANI’S ECLECTIC MEN’S AND WOMEN’S RESORT 2015 COLLECTION WAS A TRENDSETTING PRESENTATION AT INDIA BEACH FASHION WEEK 2015

A mélange of fashion was unveiled at Gionee India Beach Fashion Week 2015 by talented designer Dolly Sidhwani. Her “Nobel Faith” collection revolved around Dolly’s style mantra “what you wear today will be fashion tomorrow”.

Getting the show set for some great comfort wear, Dolly opened the collection with ex-VJ and actress Amrita Arora Ladak in a black asymmetric dress with silver metallic edging on neck and low back. Adding to the star quotient of the show the very dashing and handsome Ali Fazal Bollywood’s latest heart throb strutted down the catwalk in a quilted waistcoat, denim jacket, Tee and slim trousers.

For Spring/Summer 2015 Dolly’s creative vision revolved around six looks for men’s wear. Fun in the sun for the sporty male was a line of floral and pine printed shirts teamed with easy camouflage printed shorts.

T-shirts appeared with stylish denim over-shirts that sported special washes, which added a stylish grunge appeal. Earth toned chinos were fitted, while jogger jeans were an interesting introduction by Dolly.

Women’s wear had a line-up of denim jumpsuits, dresses, shorts, cropped tops with hints of lace. Embroidery was selectively used with necklines glittering on the ramp; while fabrics were fluid as lace played a dominant role in the collection.

Eye catchers were the blousoned printed mini with glittering neck and shoulders, fringed waist coats, white lace halter gown and black tasselled-front mini. Embroidered belts added a discreet shine to the dresses and gowns; while the print story in multicolours worked well on dark backgrounds.
Keeping the colour story very bright and summery, Dolly opted for green, blue, coral and of course neutral black and white. Prints played a major role once again with jungle and palm images livening up the cool dresses, skirts and jumpsuits.

For that perfect holiday wardrobe that adds pizzazz to men’s and women’s sartorial elegance, here was the right “Nobel Faith” option by Dolly Sidhwani.

GIONEE INDIA BEACH FASHION WEEK 2015 OPENED WITH STYLISH “MASTI” BY ANUPAMAA DAYAL

In the cool ambience of the Wave Arena of Hotel Grand Mercure there was fashion, there was colour and there were exotic prints all brought together by Anupamaa Dayal’s “Masti” collection that was the  sensational opening show at Gionee India Beach Fashion Week 2015 in sun kissed Goa.

Dedicating the show to the adoption of the homeless dog movement by PETA, Anupamaa unleashed a line-up of mind-blowing prints and colours that dazzled the audience.

Happy clothes have been Anupamaa’s forté for all her collections, so this time too it was a profusion of large fragrant flower prints that bloomed on the garments. Her vibrant colour card was inspired by the Goan hues as the shades of the sun and sea came alive on the ramp.

From soft gentle pinks inspired by the sunrise to magical deep blues of the Arabian Sea added flavour to the garments. Languid silhouettes floated down the catwalk for kaftans, tunics, lean long maxis and cute blouses all perfect for fun on the beach and in the pool. Adding to the drama were the stylish scarves and jewellery created by Anupamaa. Really striking were the stringy fabric gladiator footwear that matched the mood of the show.

There was a great mix of soft gilets, draped petal hemline tunics, two toned printed salwars and tiny cholis. Striking cut-outs for the kaftans were sultry and billowing for the walk under the sun; while shocking pink tones were for bikini covers and asymmetric kaftan togas completed the look.

The “Sarini” a mix of the bikini and sari with tiny Kutchy style waistcoats were eye-catching and so were the two toned printed strappy tunics, kurtis and salwars. High slit front-open long kurtas, maxi shirt covers, bat sleeve fluid floor kissing creations and panelled flared capris were some of the beauties on the catwalk. Creating a glam touch was the sheer black pair of pants.

Ending the show Anupamaa ensured that the theme and the fun of the creations were kept intact when she showcased two large floral printed crisp cotton lehengas teamed with ultra seductive bandeau tops and sensuous dupattas.

For ideal resort wear get some “Masti” into the wardrobe said Anupamaa Dayal to fashionistas who want to lounge under the sun.
